If anyone is local to Chicago, you may want to stop by the OhNo!Doom gallery Saturday August 11 through August 30. There just so happens to be a terrific Adventure Time! tribute show, featuring over 40 artists, including myself. The show opens Saturday (oh, that’s almost here) August 11 from 6 PM through 10 PM.

Lauren Gray does some fantastic pyrography work. She has a classic style and natural subject matter that somehow still carries a sense of the modern. She’s mastered tonality, and her work has kind of a reflective, moody quality. While her most recent work is with casein paint and pencil, she’s got prints of some of her pyrography pieces available at her etsy store, The Haunted Hollow Tree.

Fearless

The stranger stood inert like some kind of giant mushroom.  All around it the earth was barren and dry, maybe from its arrival, maybe because of the nails, or pipes, or roots, it had inserted into the ground.   The people were going to avoid it, and hope that it would die off.   More than a few thought of burning it.  But then some kid walked up to it, and did a funny thing: he held out his hand.  What happened next would change the world.
