My attempts at abstract

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on March 18, 2011 by scratchyb

I don’t know if you can call these properly abstract. I’ve been experimenting a little bit beyond the figurative, that’s weird for me. These are woodburn paintings. I burned in the design and then painted around it with watercolor and acrylic.

I’ve not been blogging lately, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been working on anything. I’ve got this Egypt themed box and a few other things up my sleeve that I’ll be posting about soon.

This stuff’s going to be posted to my Etsy store soon.

Some animals appearing on Etsy

About half of the Creatures of the Arboretarium weren’t available on my Etsy site, and were unique to Renegade.  Now I’m adding them day by day, so they should all be up by the end of the week.  So far, here’s the Octophant:

“The Octophant is the most intelligent creature on Earth.  It is the only Arboretarium dweller that has ever plotted to escape and take over the world.”

I should mention that all of these animals are hand drawn with archival Micron pens, and some watercolor.  I had a few people ask if they were wood-burned images.  While the plaques are for wood-burning, I chose to stick with drawing, since that’s what I know.

Mini Paintings

I’ve added a few miniature paintings to my Renegade stock.  Three of them look to be the kickoffs to a new series: paintings based on metal song titles.  Here they are, each 3×3″.

The Racoonigator

Still keeping up with the Arbortarium mixed-animal series. My self-publishing ambitions haven’t pushed that to the sidelines yet. This is the much feared racoonigator. You don’t want to find one in your garbage.
