IF – Propagate

Propagate

It doesn’t take much to spread the seeds of discontent.  Sometimes just the right little nudge, sometimes nothing more than a breath.

For Illustration Friday.  You can’t see it well here, but the breath was done in silver ink.  I love using silver wherever I can.

IF–Adrift

This is a scratchboard piece I just did for Illustration Friday.  The theme was “Adrift.”  As I drew, I started to develop a story around this situation.  I might try to expand it to a short graphic story.  I have plenty of scratchboard.

Illustration Friday: “Muddy”

Muddy

The three-trunked glorfnet is a mud-dweller, unlike its wooly cousins in the far north of the planet.  It thrives on the bacteria that lives in the mud, and rarely ever leaves its nutrient rich, albeit, messy, home.  Consequently, it is also far less intelligent than its arctic cousins.  Many glorfnets have plants growing on them, usually the blue-leaved premanian vine.

Clumsy-Illustration Friday

woodburn and painting on wood

Clumsy

In the beginning, there was no evil, but for a jar that Deity kept locked up in a cupboard, leftover from a previous experiment with another universe.  To keep His new project from being tainted, He called upon one of his angels to take the jar out of the studio, far far away.  Only his weakest and ugliest runt showed up.  Deity sighed, and gave him the jar.  “Take care with this, and remove it to a location far away.”

The crooked angel almost made it to the edge of the world, before the jar simply slipped from his hands and shattered on the ground, allowing evil to scatter to the ends of the earth and there flourish.  And so, Deity shrugged his shoulders and started on a new project.  The poor malformed angel was given the world to do with as he wished.

This is a WIP I started for Illustration Friday.  I’ve been wanting to pursue woodburning as an element in my work, hoping to find a balance between the woodburned elements, and those using paint or ink.  So far, seems way off balance.  I also used my new Dremel for the bird’s outline.  Weee fun.

Illustration Friday: Wilderness

Another Illustration Friday piece.  I’m trying to participate in this to keep my mind in art mode when I’m not at work.  The actual piece I wanted to do for this one couldn’t be finished in time, but I do intend to complete it.  This is a sketch I did over the weekend, while in Wisconsin for a relaxing mini-vacation.

Illustration Friday: Confined

Sometimes even freedom can be confining.

My first participation in Illustration Friday.   A very simple acrylic painting, with some extra fine detailed lines added with ballpoint pens.
