Had a great day at last Saturday’s Constructor Craft Fair at Fitzgerald’s. This was the first craft fair where I wasn’t sharing a booth, so I took advantage of the space. A big thank you to people who came to my booth and supported me, and also to my fellow vendors, who were just plain fun and inspiring to be around. I shouldn’t leave out the organizers,  who always go out of their way to make this a great event.

One thing I have picked up from this show is that I am ready to start moving into more products, like a greater range of cards, and finally, T-shirts. While I’m still continuing with the major and minor pyrography art experiments I’ve been doing, I’m also going to explore some other avenues for my designs.

And now, it is time to return to work.

Constructor Craft Fair July 9th

This post is waaaay late, but I have good excuses, what with a storm that blew out our power for36 hours, stomach flu, family matters, and an impromptu trip to Holland.  Holland, Michigan, that is.

So the Constructor Craft Fair happened at Fitzgerald’s in Berwyn on Saturday July 9th, and it was just as much fun as last year.

I debuted a few new pieces there. These are a few of the new items. They’ll be appearing in my Etsy shop soon.

50/50 Pilsen Art Show

Posted in Art, Display with tags , , , , , , , , , on October 12, 2010 by scratchyb

The past two weekends I’ve been participating in the 50/50 Pilsen show.   Last weekend we had a craft fair, where I sold one of the boxes I had promised to provide a picture of–without having taken a picture of it.  So, for the rest of my life, I’ll have to just tell the story of the Red Riding Hood box I woodburned, with each side telling a little bit more of the story, including a wolf trap at the end.

I still do have the octopus box, just no picture yet. Waiting on the best possible light.

But, here are some pictures of the art I’ve got hanging in the art show, which we started Friday night, coinciding with “Second Fridays” in the Pilsen neighborhood, when galleries open their doors to the public.

This one here’s the newest piece, just finished last Friday the morning before the show, called “Egghead”.

This one’s called “Birdcage.”

Here’s the rest of the pieces I hung.  I had a lot of space to work with, so rather than bring in all wood-pieces, I set up sort of a chronology of work I’d done the past five years, earliest to latest.  Before I was into wood-burning I was all about pen and ink on paper.

For anyone in Chicagoland, I’ll be at the Renegade Craft Fair on Division Street, by Damen Ave. this weekend.  Stop by, I’m sharing a tent with Moxiedoll.  The animals of the arboretarium will be there, along with some other stuff.
